Dear friend,
As the world continues to witness the disproportionate impact COVID-19 has had on populations like The Community Builders serves every day, we continue to place our residents at the center of all we do.
For our 2020-2024strategic plan, The Community Builders prioritizes the creation of healthy, innovative, and sustainable housing for residents. As we look to the future, we are widening our scope and extending our reach into new communities. We continue to reinforce and upgrade the communities we serve while seeking to invest in urban low income neighborhoods that are often overlooked.
The economic devastations of the pandemic have propelled The Community Builders to engage residents as co-authors for their own futures. The Community Builders is committed to shifting power dynamics and partnering with residents to unlock their full potential. Predicated on community-driven solutions, resident voice and lived experience informs all our work.
We are stronger together with your help and partnership.
Thank you for your continued support as we realize our mission
to build and sustain strong communities where all people can thrive.

Residents at the Center
Through Community Life
Connecting Residents To Resources
The Community Builders works every day to build healthy homes and improve access to housing stability, opportunity, safety and health for seniors and families. TCB Community Life offers an incentive program for residents who take part in TCB programming. Residents can order an item using a community account and have the item delivered to their doorstep. This initiative offers residents essential resources at no cost and is beneficial for individuals who require transportation assistance.
Building Thriving Communities
The Community Builders Community Life programming helps children learn, parents earn and seniors thrive. Community Life is offered at TCB properties in many diverse cities including Boston, Baltimore, Cincinnati and Chicago. Programs are offered to residents of all ages and catered specifically to the needs of the community.

HOUSING SPOTLIGHT

The Art of Lyman Terrace
The Community Builders led two phases of redevelopment of Lyman Terrace between 2016-2021. Serving as home to 164 families, the renovation of Lyman Terrace was completed in partnership with Holyoke Housing Authority. In the early 2010’s, Lyman Terrace had become functionally obsolete and needed a revitalization to effectively support its residents and the economic redevelopment of downtown. Recognized in excellence in the U.S. Department of Urban Housing and Development Preservation category, Lyman Terrace was the recipient of two national awards: a 2021 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award and a 2021 Affordable Housing Finance Readers Choice Award .
The surrounding grounds of Lyman Terrace is Holyoke’s Pulaski Park. Pulaski Park is home to a new vibrant mural painted by master artist Tyrone Bowie, Jr. The mural features community members utilizing the park’s many amenities.
